Where it all began...
My name is Amina Juma Kalumanzila. I am from Tanguu in Tanzania. I am married and a mother of three children. I started my business since 2019 whilst working for a non-governmental organisation that I am still working with today near Stone Town in Zanzibar.
The volunteers asked me to buy pure coconut oil for them which I got from the market. One day I thought it would be easier to make it myself and sell to them. My grandmother taught me how to do this and that’s where it all started. It has become a good business and one of my dreams is to be successful and for my products to be well known all over the world. All my products are homemade. I have studied and obtained a diploma in business.
Recently I also started to make scented candles using soy wax and essential oils only. I also make avocado seed powder as well, as a bi-product when I cook avocado oil. I keep the seed to make a powder that can be used as a medical or body scrub. Avocado seed powder is well known to help with high blood pressure, cholesterol and other health issues.
